C. K. Stead is a poet, novelist, essayist and literary critic, who has been one of New Zealand's leading literary figures for almost half a century. He was a Professor of English at The University of Auckland for 20 years and, in 2007, was admitted to the Order of New Zealand, this country's highest accolade.
